Karen Ahlschläger graduated with a National Higher Diploma in Graphic Design (specialising in illustration). She started her career as a graphic designer, followed by book designer and computer graphics lecturer. She currently works as a freelance illustrator, graphic designer and fine artist. Karen's work has been commissioned both locally and abroad. Clients include: Hodder (UK), McGraw-Hill and Ibis Publishing (Australia), Oxford University Press, Maskew Miller Longman – Pearson Southern Africa, Heinemann Publishers, True Love and Intelligence Total Business Magazines and Jupiter Drawing Room. She has illustrated packaging artwork for Vi-Daylin, Moutia Rum and Educational card games for Keys to Learning (Cambridge University Press). Karen’s work is discussed and featured in a book entitled; Best Practice: The Pros on Adobe Photoshop written by Toni Toland published by Delmar Learning, New York (2006) and in SA Art Times (July 2010).
